Part of my job (lucky me) is to find good restaurants for corporate lunches and dinners. I work in Summerlin so Vintner's was a go-to venue for years. Until one time my coworkers and I were there having lunch when one of them crunched on something and found a chunk of glass in her food. The waiter said they'd broken a glass in the kitchen but didn't think it had gone near the food. I was surprised they didn't know to throw away everything they were working on. She could have been seriously hurt. But, we chalked it up to experience and continued to go there. Until my husband and I decided to go for lunch one Saturday. We were shopping, so we were casually but nicely dressed. As we went in, the hostess looked us up and down and said, "I'm sorry, we're very busy today." There were about ten people seated and there was plenty of room. I've never been turned away from there before, even when they were extremely full and we walked in with a large team. So my husband and I left, and I've never gone back. Not for lunch with my coworkers, nor with my boss and his team for a corporate dinner - there are plenty of other fine restaurants in Summerlin now for me to steer him to instead. "Other Mama" for instance. Check it out - amazing food AND great service. No more Vintner's for me. It's a horrible feeling to be rejected like that. I was embarrassed in front of my new husband - it was his first visit and I'd spoken highly of the place. I'm English-born so I'm used to that kind of snobbery in the UK, but never had it here in the US. I wish they knew how much money they've lost due to her awful behavior.
