| - Yes it has a bazillion awards, yes Anthony Bordain, Max Jacobson, and tons of other food critics have said this is the place to go. Yes it really took me this long to try it. And yes, you can kick me for it! (as long as you bring some wings when you do).
Ok, first, let me tell you the story of many years ago. My mom took me here for the lunch buffet. I stuck my nose up like, what the heck is my mom trying to get me to eat here. Well let's just say I made a recent call to my mom saying, "I am so sorry I didn't like Thai food at a younger age, you were right". I am sure she enjoyed that.
I have yet to come here for dinner, and I have yet to try any of these specials that are frequently talked about. However, in the past two weeks, I have come here 3 times for lunch. I get my usual that I normally get when eating Thai food. Garlic & black pepper chicken, green beans and beef, basil fried rice, drunken noodles, or yellow curry. Just a few classic personal favs. I have plans on venturing into the Northern Thai portion of their menu. I recently had their wings as an appetizer. I brought back the three leftover wings to co-workers. Three out of three of them asked where those amazing sweet chili wings came from. I will win them over bringing leftovers from this place.
Now, let's talk about spice! If you have read any of my reviews, you know I like SPICY!! It grinds my gears when I go to eat any place, they claim something is spicy, and it doesn't make me sweat. Don't tease me! I usually get anywhere from a level 6 to 8. In the past, Pan Asian has been the only place I have had to step back, wipe off the sweat, and shake the hand of the chef to thank them. Well, on my first experience here at LOS, I knew, I had found a place on my level.
I ordered my pepper chicken at a level 7, and let's just say my Thai ice tea did not last over half my meal. From now on, I will stick with a level 5 or 6 here. Well done Lotus of Siam. There is a competitor in the parking lot, and their level 8 did not even make me turn red. (CUE WAMP WAMP MUSIC)
I will keep you updated as I try more authentic stuff on the menu. However, if your a white girl (or guy), who can handle spice, and loves Thai- GET HERE ASAP! Thank me later!
