Attended a very lovely luncheon for a friend's 25th wedding anniversary. Wish I could remember the Sauvignon Blanc we were drinking - it was really, really nice! A little more round and soft than most Sauvignon Blancs I've tried, it was refreshing and really easy to drink. For starters, a tray of antipasti was passed with roasted red peppers, artichokes, salami, and mushrooms. Next were two hot appetizers: calamari and shrimp on a hot stone. The calamari was fresh and had a nice fried crunch (hate soggy calamari), and the shrimp was sizzling. There was a choice of main entrees, and I opted for the potato-crusted salmon and risotto. The salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly, the risotto consistency was a bit too much like oatmeal. I heard the wine menu is extensive, and I'd like to try Ventano again with the hubby - a few appetizers and some vino sound just right!
