AT LONG LAST.... I made it to The Oyster Bar. I have been to Palace Station many times over the years but only to eat at their 24HR restaurant for some cheap steak & eggs and such. I was missing out this whole time not knowing what this counter of seafood eating had to offer.
We waited a good hour to hour and a half. That was brutal. Not used to waiting that long but there are only 16 chairs so waiting is the only way. Even for take-out... I've been told that the wait is usually longer so I can count myself lucky. You just have to wait and you will be rewarded with some of the tastiest food in Las Vegas.
We started off with a half dozen oyster on a half shell. They are gold band oysters and priced at $11.99. Oysters were a decent size and tasted good. I would just go for the dozen next time. A little lemon, a little salt and a little hot sauce. You're golden... For my entree, I had to have the famous pan roast. It's all people were talking about in line and in the Yelp reviews. I went with the Palace Pan Roast ($23.99) and that comes with shrimp, crab, chicken and andouille sausage. It was delicous. The pan roast is a creamy tomato stew cooked in a steam kettle right in front of you. You choose the ingredients and they cook it right there. It's really quite amazing. The chefs have it down to a science. I've never seen food cooked like that so I was lovin it. The food tasted great. The combination of ingredients in the creamy tomato stew served with white rice in the middle of it was excellent. I went with mild but you tell them how hot you want or can handle... It was such a good meal. I wish I would have tried it sooner. I've been going to Vegas for decades and have been missing out all this time. Now I know.
Service was great. The chef was a wealth of knowledge. Like a seasoned bartender except he's mastered steam kettle cooking. Our server was super nice and they pack all your leftovers so you can enjoy the rest back in your room. 5 stars... with the wait. Easy. Go to Palace Station. Now... You're welcome.
