  • Phoenix finally has shabu. Kudos for that. As someone who has been to many shabu restaurants in other states, perhaps my expectations were too high. The food is good for the average diner but not fantastic. I do like the option of organic grass feed beef, and choice of rice or noodles or both. Except the rice was really dry. The staff kept forgetting our veggies, rice, noodles, etc. Perhaps the menu was too complicated or too many options for them to handle. Instead, maybe have less options...maybe combine veggie options. The staff needs to work on a rhythm. It's not hard to bring out broth, veggies, carbs and protein. In that order. Bam, done. Once they get that down, service should improve. I think Shabu Fondue has potential. Those who have never had shabu should definitely try it. Being able to make a reservation was a plus.
