I brought my rare, platinum weave wedding band to Anthony's Watch & Jewelry Repair to have sized based on the great Yelp reviews. The first time I brought it, he said it may be hard to get it to the right size...it would be a stretch and may damage the weave. I authorized him to do what he could to make it bigger. He did make it bigger but the weave pattern broke slightly and caused a gap in the design. The inside was also hollowed out and took away the comfort fit and scratched off the 950 platinum stamp. I take full responsibility for this since he told me it may cause damage. However, he did say if it needed to go even bigger, he could fix the damage and add platinum to make it bigger and fix the weave. Although the weave was slightly broken, I decided I could live with it, paid him about $80 and brought it home to try for about a week. Sadly it was still too small. I returned to Anthony's and paid an additional $250 to have it resized and get the weave fixed. When I got the ring back, I honestly almost cried. It was totally ruined. His excuse was that it was machine made and he couldn't duplicate the pattern exactly. I went back the next day and asked if he would buy it. He offered me a little over $250 for "scrap"...not even enough to compensate for the labor. I've provided a pictures in my profile to prove how poor his craftsmanship is and how badly he ruined my ring. I was going to go back and complain but my wife convinced me to just stay away. She said he has no business resizing jewelry and I should just bite the bullet and move on. So I have moved on but I can't just let this go unspoken of. I feel it would be a dis-justice to our community to not report this and let Anthony's Watch & Jewelry Repair continue destroying peoples precious and sentimental belongings. I go out of my way to support local business but sadly, you should really consider another option.
