  • I have avoided this place for so long because I was certain that I would have an anxiety attack upon entering the building. Well, the time came when I could no longer avoid it, and I set out to Babies R Us last weekend. A coworker is having a baby (not me!), and she is totally clueless on anything baby related. I have no kids, but have been to enough baby showers in the last couple of years that I have a decent grasp on what is required and necessary. So I created a registry for said coworker and another friend and I went in on Saturday to purchase some items for her shower. First of all - this place is like the Costco of baby stores. Holy crap, do they have everything you could ever imagine a baby would need - and then some!! Everything was well organized and the departments were clearly labeled by their specialties. As we cruised the store, we were approached no less than 5 times, by different associates asking if we needed assistance. Usually you can't find anyone when you need them, but there was plenty of staff and everyone seemed friendly and eager to help. We had a list of what we needed, so didn't really ask for any help (until later). We bought everything and when we mentioned to the cashier that we didn't print the registry, she directed us to the registry desk to speak to Kayla. Kayla was so incredibly helpful. We actually updated our friend's registry to include some of the items we purchased that day, and I was able to pick up her gift bag, VIB card and rewards card, since I set up the registry. They have some great programs that sound like they would be very helpful for new Moms (the VIB is a reloadable gift card and the store adds 10% to what is added to the card). That card can then be used to purchase essentials like diapers, wipes, formula, etc. Things that are not discounted usually. Although I ended up spending about 2 hours in the store, it didn't seem like that long. Everyone was helpful and friendly and we got everything we needed. I liked the layout of the store and found the prices to be reasonable. There were quite a few things that were discounted (BOGO 50% off on burp cloths and bibs), so we ended up getting more than we wanted for our budget. I am pretty sure my uterus fluttered a few times and I avoided any panic attacks. Overall it was a successful trip and I will certainly return in a few months when I have the next shower to plan for!
