| - *Sigh* I wanted to absolutely love my experience with Tami as much as everyone else did, but sadly after thinking about my experience I am less than thrilled and wish I hadn't scheduled the appointment, as I am left with little confidence in myself when I was expecting the opposite. I will say, Tami responded very promptly and it was very convenient to have a house call.
I think maybe I am hung up on the things that she said, and don't feel like anything was really accomplished at our session. She watched me nurse, diagnosed my baby with ankyloglossia and said my child won't be talking until she's 4 unless it's revised, (however a speech therapist, nurse midwife and two physician assistants all said her tongue is normal and shouldn't affect speech development).
She also mentioned that my baby had a square head and will likely need a helmet by 8 months. I was stunned and seriously did NOT know how to respond to this. No brand new mother wants to hear that their child is anything less than perfect. Might I also add that my husband, a Physician Assistant explained that he has seen many cases of plagiocephaly and our daughter does NOT have that.
While I don't think what she said was meant with malice, I really wish I hadn't scheduled this appointment simply because I feel so let down!!! :(. She did recommend a few things (bottles/supplements) that I believe will be helpful, but we are not revising our daughter's tongue tie unless recommended by a pediatrician or ear, nose and throat doctor. I do know that she will be able to provide other ladies' with the help they need.
