I met this group at an annual event in Gilbert called "The 12K's of Christmas" which is a benefit for animal shelters. I visited the ALGBR booth, filled out an app, and was able to schedule our home visit for the next day.
One aspect about this particular group is that they don't take any Pit Bull mixes- and you find a lot of those in the shelters if you're looking for large dogs. That's why we decided to use a rescue group to help us locate a dog.
My little girl fell in love with Maximus, who was at their booth at the 12K's event. We visited him at his foster home and ended up adopting him. He's a perfect fit for our family. Max is a Neopolitan Mastiff puppy about 18mos old and 100 lbs. Very quiet and gentle. I was prepared to be checking out the website and visiting dogs for a couple of months, and to me it was worth it to get a good fit as we have young children.
