  • I'll start by saying that (1) we did not have a reservation and (2) one of the busiest nights for restaurants, Thanksgiving eve. However, we called ahead and were told that they would try and accommodate us if we were willing to wait. And wait we did. When we arrived there was a large party occupying a table on the patio and were told that although they might be a while, we could have that table when they left. We spent 2 hours having cocktails and appetizers in the bar. When the table left, they re-set it and immediately sat two other groups even though they knew we were waiting! The manager, Kyle, knew we were waiting as he was the one I spoke with when I called, when we arrived and while we were waiting. After we complained Kyle's story changed and he said they had reservations. Not what the hostess told us when we arrived. You should have at least checked your stories first Kyle. When he realized how upset we were he set up two separate tables inside where our group would be seated apart. Thanks for nothing Kyle. Not how I would expect a manager to handle customer service. With so many options up and down the Central corridor, it's pretty incredible that you were willing to alienate 12 customers who were already in your establishment and spending $. You let us walk right out the door. By the way, we were calling other restaurants from your own bar and several were very willing to accommodate us which we promptly took advantage of. We will not be coming back although Keith was awesome as our server. Again, with so many options in the area, Kyle is not someone who Hula's should have representing them. Update following Dana's response: Dana, we did not request the patio, in fact not our first choice since it was cold and although the music was good, it was loud right next to the speakers. We were told that we could have that particular table once they left if we were willing to wait. Knowing we were a big group o a busy night we were willing to sit outside and also willing to wait. And we were ordering drinks and appetizers while we were waiting in the bar area, not just taking up space. We took an area in the bar that we were told we could have but only until the next party arrived. Again we were trying to work with Kyle because we were told we would be accommodated if we waited. It was not until I questioned his seating two other parties at the table we were told we could wait for that he "accommodated" us, at two separated tables. I thought you would appreciate the feedback because this treatment seemed out of line. I took the time to provide you with the feedback because it is always our preference to support local businesses and I thought you would appreciate knowing how we were treated. Your response seems to deflect back on our group. Clarifies that this was not a one time experience but more the Hula's approach towards customer service. Not the response I would expect considering the increasing Central Phoenix options. Thanks for the response.
