| - I purchased a 100-year-old, vintage ring online and chose to have Kay Jewelers work on it because I thought their reputation was worthy. However, once I brought it in, it took over 4 weeks to size it down, clean it, and re-tip the prongs. I had also been told I would get a quote to replace the emeralds due to one having a chip. $400 later, the ring is still too big, I did not get a quote to replace the gems, AND I wore it for 5 days and one of the emeralds FELL OUT.
How does a hundred year old ring make it this long, to have one company work on it and then it go to crap?
I called the customer service hotline who referred me back to the store. The store said they wouldn't cover the replacement of the lost gem because they didn't "do work" on the stones despite having actually "cleaned" them. The manager dodged my questions and asked the assistant manager to address my issues. He was kind but said his hands were tied. He mentioned that the original replacement quote wasn't done because they had to "rush the order back." That tells me that they didn't do ANY work on the ring for the 4 weeks it had been shipped out. This is the worst quality service I've received. Not to mention, as a newly engaged person, I have a broken ring to show off. I will be taking it elsewhere from now on.
