| - I hate giving a poor review. A poor review means that I did not enjoy the product or service provided me for my money, it can affect the profitability of many workers I am sure are very dedicated and I would just prefer to be positive when possible. Even more, I hate to give a poor review to a salon, where each worker can be different and possibly not an overall indication of the quality of the establishment.
Unfortunately, I just can't talk myself out of reviewing this location favourably. I recently moved to this city from Dallas, and needed to find a good haircut. Based on other reviews and location, I decided upon Fiorio and booked an appointment with a Senior level stylist.
Front desk service was fine, and the location, though slightly busy, was very clean. I can issue no complaint with service, I was given everything to keep me pleased. Unfortunately, the product I received was very, very poor.
I explained that my hair, at the time about an inch and a half (nearly four cm) hadn't been cut in about 5 weeks or so. I stated that I like my hair to be versatile enough to either style neatly or worn disheveled. This would require a good amount of texture and some shortening for the 5 weeks of growth. She responded well and stated she would just thin out the sides and back of my head and taper them into the top length. I took 'thinning out' to mean shortening by 5 weeks of growth.
What I received was a US Marine style military haircut. The sides of my head, while she used scissors, look as though they were cut with clippers. Approximately 1 cm long. This tapers into a top length that maintained a good amount of length, but that makes my head appear long and, without a better word, military.
In addition, my sideburns were cut so short that at the cheekbone, there was a spot that she got too far and cut off, so that there is literally a median line through the sideburn.
I was aghast at the result - had she slowly cut the hair down I could have stopped it, but she immediately went short, her first snip being past the point of no return.
Alas, I fear I will not give this location another shot - although I am sure that other stylists are competent enough to understand what 5 weeks of grown entails, I will seek a location elsewhere at perhaps a slightly lower rate. Hell, if I'm going to get a bad haircut, at least let me do it cheaply!
