  • First let me just say that waxing my brows is something I'm pretty passionate about. I moved to Pittsburgh a couple years ago from a very large city out West. I had a regular brow waxing place before, but absolutely couldn't find something even remotely similar here in Pittsburgh. This was literally bringing down my opinion of the city! I had tried 5 different places and finally settled on the place I felt was acceptable (a place that I'd give 3 stars out of 5, at the most). Finally after my last waxing at that old place, which I had gone to for almost a year, I decided that I had had more than enough. I was literally plucking my own eyebrow hairs immediately after my wax session. Not the best, especially given the amount of irritation and redness that I had. So I decided I'd try Waxing the City. I loved the reviews and I loved the approach that I briefly saw. More importantly they allowed for online booking and could get me in literally later that day. I honestly didn't expect much. I hoped for something even marginally better than my old experience. I was completely blown away. My experience at Waxing the City was absolutely amazing. I honestly think my experience was even better than what I had previously even out West! My cerologist knew and understood the differences even among different ethnicities. I'm an Asian woman, yet my skin gets red fairly easily while being waxed. My cerologist took great care in assuring that I was under the greatest possible care: she ensured that the wax wasn't too hot, that there wasn't too much irritation, and that I was comfortable. She knew exactly how to handle my brows and I've never been happier with the results. On top of that, she reduced my redness on the spot with a derma-wand. I was literally "going out" ready immediately post appointment. No redness, no leftover stray hairs, just a perfect brow wax. All of those things aside, the location is fairly easy to get to. Definitely not a deal breaker if you're looking for a great wax. The shop is also extremely clean, modern, comfy, and even chic. I just love everything about it. The price is actually lower than what I had been paying and they offer great discounts for bulk purchases, which I gladly jumped on. I will definitely be coming here for all my waxing needs. Honestly my only trepidation in recommending this place is that I fear that they'll grow to have too many customers because I doubt anyone coming here once will decide to go back to whatever wax place they had come from.
