  • For what it is, Cha Ma Cha lives up to its name. It specializes in insanely huge portions of shaved ice for slightly upper-end dessert prices. Quality is pretty good and it's definitely an enjoyable dessert every once in a while (especially in the summer when it's hot out). My party of 3 ordered: The Green Tea Wizard = delicious, but the matcha flavour could've been stronger. We didn't know the grass jelly and red bean were hidden at the bottom so we ate a lot of the shaved ice on its own before digging deep enough. Mr. Brown = too sweet and we had to ask for hot water to cleanse our palates between bites. I quite enjoyed the mochi pieces though - they were fun to chew. Pistachio Chocolate Crunch Mousse = really delicious - the mousse was light and fluffy but the chocolate was dense and rich! I especially loved the chocolate crunch balls (they're the same as the ones you find atop the Costco Tuxedo cake). A flaw common to both of the shaved ices was the tapioca balls, which were all clumped together in chunks and was a disaster to pour. P.S. I also later found out that Cha Me Cha's cakes are all catered from La Rocca and you can buy them at Longo's bakery too (for cheaper, of course!). The only real downside to this place is their service, which I found could use improvement. I strongly disliked how they enforce a "1 order per customer" rule when the cheapest item on the menu (tea) is still $5. Card or board games are also not allowed so I would imagine that this place isn't very accommodating for hangouts or loitering.
