'These are not the drones you are looking for'...
I am a frequent traveler like the thousands of people I see in the airports each week. One of the perks of a rather unglamorous lifestyle is that I am top status at the hotel I frequent as well as Hertz Car Rentals.
I was in Tempe AZ last week and headed out to Hertz at the Sky Harbor Rental Center. Being President's Circle and at a location that has Ultimate Service I was surprised to get two emails - one stating 'go to President's Circle' and one to an actual car location (L23).
When I went to the counter to ask they said they were out of cars in President's Circle. Okay, it was 9:30 so they are obviously thin by that point but I looked in Gold and Five Star and there were other cars. When I asked the rep at the counter, they said we have you the Nissan Maxima because it was better than the available cars. When I noted that I just saw Infinity's in the Five Star area they said (and here is the line about the drones - like I couldn't see for myself) 'no there's not' to which I said 'yes there are'.
No, there's not.
Yes. There is.
No, this is the only car you can have
Why? I see other cars out there.
There are none available for you.
I was explaining that I had people that I travel with so I wanted to pick something bigger. That was it. I didn't have any other choice. So I left with my Maxima, a very lovely sedan. It was clean and nice. The folks at the exit gate were very friendly. So other than the Storm Troopers at the counter unwilling to even look for another car, it was a good experience.
It was likely 10 p.m. by then Arizona time, which was 1 a.m. my local time so I stopped pressing the point.
I have to go back to the Hertz location tonight for another week in the city. I will try it again this evening. Not to be a spoiled brat but I've earned the option to chose my own vehicle. Let's see what happens...
