| - I have been to the Brickworks a couple of times in different seasons. It's always super beautiful, with lovely paths that go through the grounds. Evergreen has done an AMAZING job of bringing back the natural habitat. In the summer time, snapping turtles can be seen in the ponds and hawks can often be seen soaring overhead - beautiful! There are also often lovely natural art exhibits around the place.
Although it seems out of the way, it's actually super accessible by bike or walking along the lower don recreational path from the south or via moore ravine from the north, by ttc from davisville station, and by a free shuttle bus from broadview station.
Today was the first time I've been since the renovation was complete. WOW. I didn't think this place could get any more amazing, but I was wrong! The skating rink was small but one of my faves so far - it's more like a little trail around two islands of plants, and there's free DIY banik off to the side. And there are people on the ice who are there to offer free tips and lessons!
There was the farmer's market in one building and other food and non-food vendors in the other building - many many food options, most of which is organic. TONS of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options to be had! My friend had a mushroom soup, a couple of us had tacos on freshly made corn tortillas with roasted tomato salsa, guacamole, pea sprouts and refried beans from mad mexican, others had kale soup and indian yummies, and then there were also the baked sweet goods. WOW WOW WOW! so much selection, so much flavour, so so so much awesomeness. There is also a cafe portion with lovely coffee and tea and soy milk.
There's live music inside - while we were there we heard a violinist and a rock band.
Overall, this was such an amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back again and again and again.
