| - While my hood damage experience was good, when I got into something more involved, it wasn't quite so good.
My car was sideswiped by a trailer, pulling out the right front fender. While initially Maaco's repair looked great, it came loose and I had a loose end of the fender flopping around. I took it back and they reattached it (no charge, which was nice), but it came loose again. I ended up taking it to another body shop where they explained to me that Maaco had attached the fender with clips but it should be bolted down, which is what they did there. It's now fixed and looks sturdy.
I also had an issue with the sonar parking sensors in connection with this repair. After the first trip to Maaco, none of them worked. I brought this up when I took my car back, and Steve told me they weren't plugged in, so the first guy neglected to plug them back in. So Steve plugged them back in, but also told me the front right sensor wasn't working. I almost made an appointment to have it replaced and was glad I didn't because I later discovered that it was working just fine.
This was a one-star incident for sure. Combined with my first positive experience I'll give them two stars overall. The hood repair and re-paint from three years ago, by the way, still looks great.
