| - WE have been going to vegas for years,a heated dispute with a rival Reveiw forum has now put us on YELP,we have stayed both on strip, off strip, and the downtown area, this was our first stay at the El cortez casino/hotel,its an old establishment,we mainly play slots and a little video poker, the slots at the el cortez were mainly older machines/games,there were some newer ones, but not many, its a pretty small place, its mostly considered a "Locals" spot for gaming, the room we had was pretty nice,it was on the 7th floor, this place kind of gets an older clientele so we did not have the running up and down hallways,or slamming doors at 3am,etc ,the room was quite large by vegas standards, and it was CLEAN!! we had 2 queen beds(Son and I) the housekeeping was some of the best we have ever seen in vegas, housekeeping kept that room spotless,we had one very minor complaint, the bathroom drains, both the sink and tub/shower drained very slow and liked to back up with water, but it was not that bad, just a nuisance,we stayed a week, the price was very reasonable, remember to tip housekeeping, they deserve it,no real major complaints about the el cortez, iam in my 60s and son is in his 40s,although we both act like we are in our 20s,our usual schedule was leave at 10am,breakfast,then NOT return to the room till 5am the next morning,we make the most of every minute, the el cortez is a nice place, and the resort fees, which most everyone has now,are really reasonable,if you like the downtown area, give it a try, everyone who worked there was VERY hospitable.....
