| - AWESOME!! Yes, see this guy live, I HIGHLY recommend! If you like comedians and laughing at silly things, you'll have a great time here.
I've seen Carrot Top perform at the Luxor twice now.. The first time about 3 years ago, and then just recently. I was a bit worried that the content would be the same or that he would have lost his edge over the years, but I was worried over nothing! He was excellent both times, honestly!
What really struck me this last time was his super high energy level. I wish I could borrow a bit of that from him to help me move from my sloth-like position on the sofa every now and then, but oh well. I digress. He was running up and down the stage, zipping side to side to grab and dispose of props, all the while remaining humble in his filler between rehearsed jokes. After the show, my husband and I had to look up his age, thinking 'Oh he's gotta be at least mid to late 30s by now..." Boy, were we surprised!!!! Seriously, he remains so youthful and energetic that you'd never guess his 'Earthling age.'
The venue is smaller than what I remembered from my first visit. Actually, on my first visit, the theater was so full that they brought in two crappy chairs from the hallway and placed them alongside one of the normal rows of seats for my husband and me.. so I had to lean faaaaaaar left, over my husbands lap, to see the show since I was off the side and beyond. I saw half the show side-ways as a result, and the other half I just listened to. It was an odd experience, I must admit, lol! This time, we were right in the middle of the seats and it was perfect.
I think row 5 (Possibly 6...) is the row with the most walking room, so if you get up to use the restroom frequently, take that into consideration - otherwise it's tricky climbing past peoples legs to get out. On that note, the bathroom is very, very far away... a long jaunt in the countryside, you might say. Or simply a long walk down a long hallway until you reach the ushers who are literally motioning wildly with their hands for you to pass third and head home... er, into the restroom. Our guess is that there have been close calls as a result of the unexpected distance. So pee before you go in!!! Just like my Pappy always use to say..
Carrot Top's humor is self deprecating at times, always humble, sometimes crude, mostly topical, never insulting. IMO, anyway. I really appreciate that. Polite comedy is an art-form, a skill. Not every comedian can pull that off. Still, despite his etiquette, he is on top of current events, and gets right to the core of issues that we all experience but may not think twice about.
I was laughing so much my cheeks hurt, and that hasn't happened since my early 20s... it's been a while, let me tell you!!!
To sum up - Yes, I would highly recommend seeing Carrot Top to my family and friends!
