My wife and I talked to Essig Law a couple of years ago after losing our business and losing our house. We were referred by another firm. And the fact that he had worked in the Attorney General's office was a plus. Not only did he want up front money, but he demanded $2,500 "to start". When we met with him he talked to my wife and I like we were degenerates with no brains. In other words he talked down to us. He also gave us absolutely nothing in writing. He stated we could take notes at the meetings. He did contact the attorney General's office and let them know he was representing us. Then he asked for another $2,500. My wife wrote a check but we had no money so I notified them not to cash the check. Shortly thereafter I contacted the Attorney General's office to ask a question. They informed my that Essig Law had cancelled their representation of us. AND THE DID NOT LET US KNOW!!! The other things are, they NEVER gave one confidence that they were on our side, and their total estimate for the bankruptcy was $20,000, which we could pay by not paying anyone else anything.
His wife is pleasant, but on your side he is not. My advice (which cost us $2,500.00) is to stay away.
