  • I am active duty military at Nelis AFB and always looking to save money. Was driving by Sun Valley Automotive on Rancho and decided to get my brakes checked to see how much percent i had left since I had 79K miles on my car. The counter person wanted to "charge me" to get my brakes inspected... Should have been the first flag. So after some hesitation he told me he would look at my brakes on my car.. It took almost 30 minutes for the verdict to come back.. I was told by these guys I had 25% on the front and the backs and rotors should be replaced because there was slight scoring and glazing.. The final bill for doing front and back would have been well over 600.00 with a "military discount". Things that make you go hmmmmm... So one of my buddies in the military is a mechanic so I thought I'd have him do the job and throw him some cash for helping me out. I went a bought all the supplies for way less than these jokers were gonna charge me... My buddy wanted to show me in disbelief how much pad was REALLY left on mine.. Well over 60% on the front and almost the same if more left on the back.. I was angry.. I try to trust mechanics but this is just another scam outfit... I went into their store today and confronted them with how much pad they thought was left on the pads they diagnosed a month ago. The counter guy said 60% on the front and likewise for the rears. So I showed him the invoice they gave me a month ago and I could tell he got a sick feeling on his face.. Like "Oh shit we just got caught".. No one at their store had a good answer as to why they scammed me? I'm sure I could open up a invetigation on one of the news stations and find others who got scammed.. If any military read this please do not use these guys.. There is never a "honest" mechanic. Point proven... Felt bad for all the customers in their store today and the sick feeling they had wondering if they were getting taken to the cleaners like I almost did..
