I would equate this experience to the DMV. You know you need to go, but know it's going to drag out, the employee will be completely miserable and not helpful and you will leave frustrated.
We went in with a simple request- upgrade our phones because we were eligible and we knew what we wanted. Any question we asked were received with a one word answer or no description of the process or detail. It was like pulling teeth trying to get info and get through switching over our phones. As I sat at the table with my old phone and new phone, she yelled across the store asking for info off my phone. When I would response that I didn't know what that was/ what she needed (a code or number off my old phone or to turn something off), she just repeated herself. If I heard her say, "like I said before" and I had to respond with, "yes, but I don't know what you are asking for" one more time, I was going to walk out and switch providers.
I hope AT&T has secret shoppers and someone else can experience this level of frustration from a simple transaction. Also- AT&T, really ? Your WiFi is that slow in a store that requires the use of it? Even the Sales Person said, "It Sucks".
