  • I was a former resident at Vertex, and lived there when they first opened. Here's a quick summary of what I think: +The apartment unit +Apartment amenities are pretty good +The staff - Parties and the noise that comes with it are quite regular (though this could be a + depending on you - The resident aren't really that concerned with common area cleanliness - Apartment complex design flaws or inadequencies - Price is quite steep First of, the apartment appliances are absolutely amazing. The kitchen appliances, washer and dryer are top notch. The LG 50" TV that comes with every apartment is also very good and was one of the things I missed about living there. I like the gym and pool. While they aren't the biggest, it's very well maintained and nothing from the gym is missing (at least when I do use it). In regards to the staff, I'll have to say they were quite inefficient in the first two months (to be fair, its their first year), but they got the hang of it once the semester got going. A special shoutout to Brooke Bell who was always professional and helpful with my requests. Because this is a new place, ASU students tend to flock to this place for parties, and they aren't just happening on the weekends. If that's your thing, then this would be a big plus for you. Also, many of the residents that live here doesn't seem to care about keeping the apartment complex clean. The elevators can get dirty, and some of them don't even bother throwing their trash bags into the chute, and instead just leave it there. I also need to comment on the apartment complex design. There are numerous walls that are just concrete with some holes (swimming pool and first floor elevator opposite the office). I think they were planning to put some panels but instead chose not to. It really isn't aesthetically pleasing. Also, the mailbox is behind the fireplace so sometimes taking my mail is akin to taking something out of the oven. I paid approx. $900 without electricity for the cheapest 2B/2B. While I do understand that a nicer apartment would fetch a higher price, I still think it's quite overpriced, and they increased the rent for this school year. Overall, I did enjoy my stay at Vertex. If it wasn't for the high price and the lifestyle of most of the residents I would have extended my lease. My advice is that if you one that prefers a quiet environment or don't need all the frills that this particular apartment comes with (50-inch TV, memory foam bed, expensive looking appliances) then you might be better off somewhere else.
