Uber is all over the news. It's about time that I wrote a review for it.
OK I have to be honest, I always had my doubts. Getting in the car of a random person does not sound like a good idea. All that changed when a friend of mine sent me an invite for a free Uber ride.
It was a late night. All bus routes are closed. I was about to do the unthinkable and call a cab, but my friend sent me an invite for Uber. I downloaded the app and filled up my info. It was quick & easy. The app shows you all the available drivers around. One tap and within 2 minutes a super friendly human being (and I emphasize on human being!) arrived. He picked me up and dropped me off in a clean, fairly new car that did not smell like taxi. We had a great conversation throughout the ride. Total was around $10 which is pretty sweet but since this was my first ride it was FREE!
I would also like to add that Uber saves me lots of money when I travel outside Toronto. I don't have to deal with taxi drivers who seem to love taking advantage of tourists. Nor do I have to pay a hefty price for a car rental. I don't have to worry about payment as it all happens online. I don't have to carry cash with me when I'm in the hoods of Chicago or Atlanta.
Thank you Uber for making our life so much better. I'm never taking a taxi or renting a car again, ever!
