  • Picked up some friends from the airport and needed some late night grub (plane arrived at midnight). Without a ton of options we ended up at Carlsbad and dug it immediately. Aside from a funky smell at the indoor bar everything was excellent. We sat out on the patio and enjoyed ourselves immensely. 3 stars just for being open and serving food until 2 am. 1 extra star for the steak quesadilla (recommended on yelp!) and the tacos and beans - all were beyond excellent. The last star has to do with the drink order. One of our party can not handle sweetness in her drinks, so she asked for a margarita with Patron, just a squeeze of lime and salt. Not too sweet. The waitress responded with "oh, basically a skinny rita? Sure". The other three of us ordered Skinny-ritas as well and a conversation before the drinks arrived braced us for disappointment - we all thought we would get four regular skinny ritas. But it didn't happen - three normal and one as requested made for the perfect start to a weekend visit. Take away: Sometimes its the simple stuff - like getting a drink order right the first time. Everything was great.
