| - I came in not too long ago for highlights and a cut. My highlights seemed to take forever - but - this is quite forgivable since the color turned out very nice! Worth the wait. The missing two stars are for my cut/style and the salon itself.
Honestly, this is the first time I've ever left a salon and felt that my hair had looked and felt better when I came in. The day after my cut, I even could see split ends! Seriously, the coloring took hours but only a few minutes were spent on the cut/style! My hair didn't have that nice "just left the salon" bounce or softness that I am used to. I was extremely disappointed that I didn't even have that one good, day-after hair day. You know, that brief period where your hair "thanks" you for taking care of it, finally? I rely on that day; that's when I take all my Facebook pics (and don't front like you all don't do the same)! Not to mention that I'll have to go have another trim (elswhere) much sooner than normal due to the shoddy work this time around.
My final observation (and this is what would truly keep me from returning; despite the bad cut, the color WAS beautiful) is that the prices seem awfully high for the caliber of this salon. My final cost, before tip, was comparable (i.e. within 20 bucks or so) of what I normally pay at far more upscale establishments with more experienced staff. The kicker is that I supposedly received a large %-off discount on the coloring (new client) and had a special package deal for the cut. What? Their "normal" prices are clearly too rich for my blood! As I was paying the bill, I couldn't help but feel that they should have bought me dinner first (har har).
It really is a shame that I had such a mixed (and pricey) experience; I very much wanted to like this salon and would have certainly tried a different stylist if I had planned to return. Unfortunately, I cannot justify blowing five-star cash on a three-star experience.
