A 3.5...edging towards a 4. The friendly staff bring it up that extra 0.5 stars.
Another month, another manicure! It's not like a manicure lasts that long (barely a week with me if I'm lucky) but I'm low maintenance and low budget.
I strolled in here on the holiday Monday, lured in by the sign outside that mentioned $30 mani-pedis. I'm so easily bought...
Anyway-salon is quite new. They only opened at the end of June. It's a hair salon in front with a manicure station and dryers to the right and pedicure chairs towards the back of the room. Decoration is great-huge mirrors, chandeliers etc. There's also a piano and I was lucky that one of the other customers decided she wanted to have a go while I was there. Free entertainment!
It was kind of a strange day for them I think....they didn't have the full staff on because it was a quiet day for business. It might be a different experience on a normal day-they were a little disorganised and distracted.
Pedicure was good. She could have been a bit more vicious with my little hooves but got a nice quickie massage of my poor Achilles and calves thrown in. They have a nice range of OPI, Essie and China glaze polishes and I opted for purple toenails for a change! It was good to see them opening sterile packages of clippers etc and I have to give her bonus credit for working around my right big toenail-my friend dropped me on it while doing some enthusiastic dancing before I left home a month ago cracking one side...and then I cracked the middle of it with the fridge door a few days ago. She did a pretty good patch up/concealer job! I managed to smudge the polish on the other big toe though which was annoying.
I got my manicure in the chair while having my pedicure. I have mixed feelings about this in general. It's great for saving time but does take away from the relaxation of the pedicure. The girl who did it was LOVELY though and did an excellent job.
Had a chat with the hairstylist while I was there and may pop back to try the hair section. Cuts are $20ish...but blow drying straight is extra. All-over colour is $45-50 approx. I'm tempted-getting tired of the bathroom looking like a scene from the Texas chainsaw massacre when I try to do it myself!
All in all, finding their feet but great potential!
