We and another couple revisited Dominick's last Saturday the 5th of March for dinner and drinks. The level of service and food dropped significantly from our last visit.
On the food side, we were disappointed with many things. My oysters were the smallest I have ever seen. Maybe they were some special midget oysters from a far away land, but I considered them a poor value for the price. I should have been warned that they were going to be tiny when I ordered them. Two of the four entrees were a let-down. My friend's filet was cooked properly, but tough and sat too long before it was served. His wife's soul (the fish not her spirit) was the low of the evening. It was very mushy and not fresh. The mashed potato side dish was watery and under-seasoned. My rib-eye was good and my wife's chicken was just OK as she put it.
On the service side, our server Robbie did not make us feel comfortable enough to ask for new entrees. He seemed busy and pre-occupied all evening. He never made a connection with us. The bus staff was inattentive leaving empty plates on the table for too long. We had drinks in the bar following the meal and our server was Sara. Her service was the best of the evening.
The experience as a whole did not meet our expectations for the money spent. I can only speculate that more attention from a management standpoint has been paid to Steak 44. All of our trips to Steak 44 have been fantastic. It was interesting to see many empty tables at Dominick's on a Saturday night. This makes me wonder if our experience is typical. We really love the menu's at both restaurants, but Steak 44 is consistently excellent while Dominick's is going to get crossed off my list of hangouts.
