  • Over the past 30 years, I've had PO Boxes at 6 different Post Offices in 5 different states, and the 89077 Post Office (Seven Hills station, off St Rose Parkway) is by far, the most incompetent. It is reassuring to see that so many others also have negative experiences with this Post Office, but it also means that the Postmaster for this area seems to be the stereotypical inept government executive and the workers are the stereotypical lazy government workers protected by their unions. I pay two hundred dollars a year for what's just one-size up from their smallest PO Box. It's much, much more expensive than what I've paid for PO Boxes elsewhere in the recent past. Is this some sort of "market rate" for the Seven Hills area? A PO Box is much more convenient & efficient to put my mail in, rather than sort it, put it into the right mail truck, have a carrier drive the truck to my area, park it, grab the mail out of the truck, and walk with it to my house, yet we all pay hefty premiums for PO Boxes here. From roughly late December 2015 until mid-January 2016 when I noticed the problem and complained, most of the mail addressed to me at my PO Box was returned to the senders, for reasons the idiots at this Post Office never determined, let-alone apologized for. When bank statements, magazines, etc. are returned to the sender, with an "Addressee Unknown" label on them, it's quite a hassle to convince the senders that the address is actually correct, and to please try using it again. I had them send me the envelopes that the mail "bounced" in, and my address was absolutely correct. I'll never know what all correspondence I missed -- it's only magazine companies, utilities & financial institutions that I knew sent me mail there that I corrected the problem with. Various Christmas cards -- gone forever. The other day, I had to go to the package pickup window for a box that wouldn't fit in my PO Box. I wasn't in a hurry, I don't mind a small line... BUT despite only 3 people ahead of me, I waited in line 28 minutes! All three people ahead of me in line were in that line to have some sort of complaint/problem handled. None of them had a satisfactory resolution, all left angry. The clerk handling the package pickup window would disappear for a while in-between customers, and when the woman in front of me asked to speak with a supervisor, the supervisor basically ran away after dealing with the customer, so she didn't have to deal with me & the 6 people in line behind me! For better or worse, I'm not the type to get loud & complain, so I walked up to the package pickup window & patiently waited for the clerk for several minutes before I hit the buzzer button. Some guy walked past, saying "I'll be right there!" So again, I patiently waited. 4 minutes later, I hit the #&$@ buzzer again... A minute later, the original clerk shows back up... I hand her the yellow form that has my PO Box # on it without saying a word. She disappears, and somehow, it takes her 4 minutes before she returns with my package. When I finally got the hell out of there, there were at least 8 people in line. Do the math on how long of a wait that's going to be for people... And as many others have already complained, the line for the regular customer counter is often pretty long... If you're still with me here, guess what -- IT'S GOING TO GET WORSE!! With all the new apartments & condos they're building on the other side of St Rose, plus the massive housing development on the other side of the Henderson Airport (Inspirada, et al) this already poorly operated and managed Post Office with an often crowded parking lot is going to become even worse! Avoid this Post Office if you can, and if you cannot, be sure to complain about it to both the US Postmaster General, and your Congress people, because competent management there will speed things up and fewer people will be there trying to fix problems caused by incompetent personnel. Addendum: August, 2016 -- what appeared to be important documents from a financial institution, addressed to a prior homeowner showed-up in my mailbox. It clearly had a return address on it, so being a decent human, instead of just throwing it away, I took the time to put a big X over my address & wrote "RETURN TO SENDER -- NO SUCH ADDRESSEE" in clear English print on the front, then I dropped it off at this 7 Hills Post Office. A normal person would assume the large envelope would be returned to the sender --especially since under the sender's address was the usual "If undeliverable, please return to sender - postage guaranteed" wording. But about a week later, it was back in my mailbox, with no notation as to why. The next time I suffer from the incompetence of the Seven Hills Post Office, I will write a letter to my State Representative, because I know his office will contact the USPS Congressional Liasion, who in-turn will give a kick in the ass to the local postmaster
