| - One Million Comix is my favourite comic book shop in Toronto. The shop is deceptively deep, having about three very long rooms on one single floor. The store features an amazing selection of manga and Japanese light novels, spanning the entire wall. It's all very neatly organized by title and they have about every single series that has been released in North America. They also have a nice selection of anime, with a separate section for brand new releases.
There's also a variety of collectable figures. It may not be quite as impressive as what Silver Snail has to offer, but you can find all of the popular stuff here as well as some more obscure figures. Everything is easy to find and they have a nice, large display case featuring various busts and other collectables. They also have various anime-related merchandise such as figures, messenger bags, plush, keychains, etc.
Lastly, they have a very impressive selection of comics in the very back of the shop. The room is really long, with one wall displaying new issues (current releases in addition to 2-3 earlier issues) and the other wall acting as shelving for graphic novels. The middle of the room contains many bins of back issues that are fairly easy to browse through.
The employees are all very friendly and very helpful. This is the first time I've ever been able to go into a comic book shop in Toronto and actually have conversations with the people that work there! The owner (I think he's the owner anyway) has been extremely helpful, having offered multiple times to place orders for me for everything from comics to harder to find figures. I don't think I have to say how much of a big difference it makes when the employees are happy to see you. They all seem to know what they're talking about too.
I should also note that they have a membership too. For one-time fee of $20, you get a 20% discount on all merchandise in the store (with the exception of DVDs, which are tax-free instead). All of the prices are US cover price too, so you get extra savings. The discount is really what made it for me; the prices were already reasonable but with the membership, I can get books cheaper than I could at Chapters/Indigo with an iRewards card. There's also a web site that lists all of their newest releases for DVDs, comics, manga, etc.
All-in-all, I've never had a bad experience here and it's a great place to shop for anime/manga fans and comic enthusiasts alike.
