  • Our A/C was ready for routine inspection and under warranty, so we called Yes! to come inspect it. After they did not show up during their time window, we found out they had tried to call us using an old phone number we explicitly told them to NOT use and, not being able to reach us, called us a "no show" and cancelled. Upset, we called Home Depot instead and they scheduled us with Yes! Air Conditioning and Plumbing anyways. We were quoted $49 for the inspection. Jaime showed up to the appointment on time and took a look, then informed me that the parts are covered by warranty but not labor. Apparently our capacitor needed replacing. He then informed me it would be an extra $170 for him to install it on top of the $49 we were paying him to be here. I was pretty taken aback. The part itself would normally be $50, but as it was covered, it was the labor that was the knock-out price. I don't know anything about A/C, but neither my husband nor I were willing to say 'yes' to the cost after knowing we were already paying $49 for him just to look at it. I think was irritated me most was that, after telling me the price, I was pretty shocked and trying to confer the cost to my husband via phone to find out his opinion on whether we should pay the extra fee to have it replaced right now or not. So Jaime said, "Sorry for ruining your day." I guess when I'm already unhappy about hearing overpriced labor costs, I don't want side comments included. I can't tell if he was trying to be genuinely apologetic or if he was just having a bad day as well. He was otherwise quite polite so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I'll be looking for other quotes to see if we can find a cheaper cost for the installation. Jaime said he already had the A/C taken apart and ready to go, and it took him a couple minutes to put it back together after I declined. Why am I paying an extra $170 for something that is going to take 15 minutes to do?
