  • You know how they say bronze medalists are the happier than silver medalists because silver medalists can only think about how close they were to gold? That's how I feel right now. Is that overly dramatic? Probably, but come on, who does these things for fun? WINNING IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS!! A group of 7 of us did the Mysterati room, which is their hardest room. The story is that you are trying to enter the Mysterati - an ancient organization whose origins and wisdoms are unknown to you. In order to enter you must prove your mental fortitude, otherwise you will be gassed to death. (One random side note on this: the building is located in this super sketch part of town right next to the waste treatment plant so the air outside did smell very 'gassy'). This one is better, by far, than the Locked Room in the NE. I have done two rooms at the Locked Room and they both pale in comparison in terms of quality of puzzles, the props and setup of the rooms, and overall story line and experience. I think having the mysteriously cloaked game master in the room with us was great. She very subtly guided our path by asking us questions or making subtle comments in a wise and ominous voice. Despite her help, we were gassed to death. Now that I think about why wouldn't she have died also... Maybe by being a part of the Mysterati you become immune to poison gas?? Without giving too much away I think the puzzles were awesome. None of the solutions felt like they were a stretch or like they were contrived, which is how I felt about the puzzles at the Locked Room. The puzzles were logical but also required a lot of creativity and I think that is the mark of a great riddle! I am almost sad we started with this one because now we kind of ruined it for ourselves by failing forever because it was so much fun. I definitely recommend coming here! Maybe you can join the Mysterati and share their secrets with those of us who failed!
