I recently ordered a bouquet made of mylar and latex balloons through Flowers of Charlotte for a dear and valued business colleague of mine for her birthday and requested they be delivered to her home. My colleague happens to be a CEO/entrepreneur with some well known celebrities as clientele as well as a personal friend so it was very important to me from a professional and personal standpoint that the bouquet be flawless. The clerk who took my order told me to ensure that my colleague would be at home to receive the bouquet because the balloons were filled with helium and exposure to cold weather would cause the latex balloons to deflate. This is something I was well aware of as I've sent my colleague balloons before for her birthday and as always, she was at home to receive the delivery. The delivery was made as scheduled and the balloons were never left outside in the cold; they were placed inside her home as soon as they were delivered. The next morning around 800 AM, less than 24 hours after delivery, she sent pictures showing that the latex balloons were deflating rapidly. I called Flowers of Charlotte and explained the situation to Shane and I sent him the pictures. He advised that there was nothing he could do because the balloons were filled with helium and the latex ones tend to deflate quickly. I told him that I frequently send balloons as gifts to several people, including my colleague, and this has never happened before. I also told him that the balloons were never left outside in the cold and that if he checks with his delivery driver, the driver will confirm that my colleague was at home to receive them. To make sure that he did not think that I was lying about the status of my colleague, I emailed him her company website so that he could see why this was an embarrassing situation for me. I told him that I wanted a refund and he told me that he could not give me a refund but he could send a another bouquet of balloons with only mylar balloons. I told him that my colleague was busy with clients and planning to go out of town on a business trip and that she did not have time to sit at home and wait for another delivery. He told me that he would speak with his customer service personnel and the delivery driver and that he would contact me later. He never called me back so I called him back later that day and he had gone home for the day which I found to be very rude and unprofessional. I'll called him back the next day and he told me that he spoke with the manager and customer service department and it was decided that I would only receive a refund for the latex balloons but not the mylar balloons. I told him that was totally unacceptable and that I expected a full refund. I also told him that my colleague tried calling him but did not get an answer and that she was equally as upset as I was. I suggested he go back and look at my colleague's website because apparently he did not look at it when I told him to the day before. 15 minutes later I got a callback from the manager telling me that I had a full refund coming to me and he apologized repeatedly and ask me to not terminate my future business with Flowers of Charlotte. This is not rocket science here; they went back and looked at the website and realized I was not lying. I conclude that only reason I got a refund and an apology is because of my colleague's status. Had she been "average", I would not have gotten a refund. This was truly an embarrassing and humiliating experience. I'll never do business with them again. My colleague texted me at 947AM to confirm that the balloons were delivered. As proof, I posted pics here on Yelp showing how much the balloons deflated since delivery.
