| - Coming from Los Angeles, it was a point of great concern that I wouldn't be able to find a quality "go to" sushi spot living in the valley. After digging around for recommendations I arrived at Shimogamo. My expectations were met and then some! My friend and I were seated at the bar with Zach, who was quick with recommendations and great conversation. The rest of the staff was warm and inviting and we felt right at home. I'm pretty simple with my sushi, I generally prefer sashimi or nigiri only and stay away from most intricate or fancy rolls. The flavors were fresh, clean, and delicious. We tore through orders of Halibut, Salmon, Saba(mackerel), tuna, kanpachi, amaebi, and more. Everything was good to to great and some dishes were just outstanding. The miso soup was solid, and the Sapporo was plentiful. We didn't order any of the more creative rolls but we did spy a few diners ordering them and watched the preparation of several and they looked excellent as well. Placed reservations for my next visit before I even left.
