| - The Great Dane has come to believe in its own mythmaking, I'm afraid. Fatal to a company, in my experience, when it forgets the heart of its own purported mission.
Trying to book a party for a boy turning 13, making a once in a lifetime trip to Scotland this year - he won the trip, entirely on his merits and hard work; only group from the United States to be so honored - and we got nothing but corporate speak and rudeness from Noel, the GM. A very short bagpiper tune - something my wife actually booked for my OWN birthday, at the SAME place, with absolutely no issues - and a party reservation for about 8; A favorite Noel quote would have to be "Your kid isn't the only one going someplace special this year." I also was especially warmed by "market model" and associated other corporate-speak. Oh, to add, when I informed Noel I couldn't but post my experiences online, "so, you're going to leave a negative review just because you didn't get your way?" Um, yep, that's kind of how it works, Noel. Not only did we not "get our way," but your empty corporate speak and absolute rudeness and contemptuous dismissal of something already done at your place, well, added up to "hit the road - we're too big."
Got it, Big Dane. You are not the company I knew - and knew well, when I used to sit with Rob LoBreglio sipping with him and sharing my thoughts on some of his earlier experiments (I was in the trade, Goose Island). Some may enjoy your pub food and beer, once a nice part of living in Madison. You've lost this person's business, for good.
