| - Keep in mind my review is based on a comparison to my previous dental clinic in Mississauga (Urban Dental) and I'm going to find it very hard to try not to be biased because Urban Dental provided the highest quality of care, service, and comfort in a super modern environment that was literally updated yearly due to the dentist's personality.
My first impressions were not the best. The front end is the first place where I should feel welcome with a warm greeting. I did not get a feeling of welcome at all. The dentist, Dr Wiedeman, is a very good dentist and my check up was thorough. I had a filling done the next day and it went as well as expected. I give this office a thumbs up in that department.
The real issue I had was with my hygienist experience. I felt like she was not very experienced. I've had so so many cleanings in the last several years at minimum 3× a year so I know when I'm getting a great and thorough cleaning. I don't know if it's just the general hygienists in Alberta or what, but I don't find they concentrate enough on my gum lines. The flossing was terrible and rough. She didn't really even get into the grooves of each molar very well. She even skipped flossing my wired teeth. (I have permanent lingual bonded wires from my braces and need a floss threader to floss those teeth.) I did a fluoride rinse and had to spit back into a cup. There is no spigot to spit into with running water. (What?) I'm used to doing a cleansing rinse with a mouth wash for 30 seconds prior to cleaning and then spitting.
This office needs a major makeover. I know I've been spoiled in the past with Urban Dental in Mississauga. They even charged a fraction of the price for the services, so I don't know what gives. I will return for dental check ups and what not, but I can't say I want to return for a mediocre cleaning. I was recommended to come back in 6 months, when I had been getting cleanings every 4 months in Ontario. I don't care if my health plan doesn't cover it.
In conclusion the office is dated, reception isn't as welcoming as I had expected it to be, the dental hygienist needs more experience, but the dentist and assistants are great.
