| - Right off the bat, I would like to say that our waitress, Jordan, was amazing! Had a great time there in part because of her happy attitude and her patience with our slow progression. We just wanted to relax and have some good beer, and she was great with that. If management is listening - Jordan is a star!
Okay, so the beer was really good. I am a pretty picky beer drinker, I'll be honest. So I usually only find a few beers at each place that I like, while my husband will like most of the menu. I tried three beers up front and liked all three immensely. I LOVE mixing beers, so typically I will order a mixed pint of the mixture that tastes best, but this time I liked the individual beers so much, I simply got two half pours plus an empty glass. That way I could drink each beer individually and have the mix as well. It was delightful! (I mixed the nut brown with the contorter porter - it was amazing!)
We ordered a bit of food - my man had the beer cheese soup and I got the chimichurri chicken salad. His soup was delicious. My salad was also very good. It had a TON of chicken on it, and I ha been expecting more greenery, so I was surprised. I think it needs one more element to be perfect - maybe more tomatoes, maybe a light vinaigrette on the spinach, maybe pickled carrots - I don't know but it is missing something.
Next time we go to Madison I will definitely come back to try the grilled wings - I was SO tempted this time, kinda wish I had.
My man had a massive flight of six beers - seriously healthy pours, and he loved all the beers he tried. Plus we had an aged imperial stout that was really good. Apparently right now they are tapping one aged beer a week but when it's gone, it's gone. We got one of the last glasses of this one - it would be fun to go each week and try the new release.
Overall, I'd be a regular if we lived locally. For now, if we visit Madison, we are pretty likely to show up there. Four solid stars with an extra one for Jordan. Go, Drink, Enjoy!
