  • I so wanted to love the Golden Nugget as it really reminds me of classic Vegas. Unfortunately, there were a few things that wouldn't allow me to do that exactly. The good: Location. It's a good location if you're staying on Fremont street as it's not too far from anything down there. ABC Store, La Bayou, food, and good slots. Casino: Really good air conditioning! I have to say, I felt very comfortable there in the 114 degree heat. Pool: Great pool area with outdoor gaming, and a really cool fish tank with sharks! There is even a water slide that goes through the tank. Room (Part 1). The Room was clean, updated and felt higher end (wait there's more). Lots of towels, and a decent wall unit A/C that kept us comfortable. The Bad: Parking structure: One elevator worked, and one was broken. I was told by the front desk that maintenance knew about it, but it was never fixed. No A/C either in the elevators. The Front Desk. We booked our room through a third party and we were told that did not include 2 beds, so there was an up charge of $33.00. We were also told that it wasn't something they could do anything about and they would never promise two beds without charging. I definitely did not feel taken care of. No offer made to make up for this issue, or even ask a manager or supervisor to speak with us. I get it, after a 5 hour drive, we didn't look amazing, but it would have been nice to have been treated like they wanted our business. Good news, we didn't gamble much there anyway. Their loss. Elevators: No A/C. Really? These were the ones inside the hotel as well. Apparently a theme at this location. Ice Machine: Ran out of ice, but hours later it did work again. Room (Part 2). The sink and bathtub had a sewer smell, that didn't really get better. It wasn't something I felt was becoming a nice place. There was rust in the bathtub around the drain. Nice! I had a good time in spite of the issues, but that's what family does. I usually stay on the strip, so this was an experience, but not sure I will be trying it out again at this location.
