| - My 20-year-old dryer (purchased from Spencer's) finally died. I don't require a lot of bells and whistles - just wanted to replace my good workhorse Whirlpool. I found exactly what I wanted at Lowe's (after a lot of standing around waiting to find someone to help me) - only to be told that it would be an extra (nearly) $250 to have a gas dryer installed (in addition to having to special order it and pay extra in the first place).
I came home and did what I should have done in the first place - called Spencer's in Scottsdale. A wonderful salesperson named Matt made it a completely painless and pleasant transaction. It still needed to be special ordered, but it could be there within the week, delivered and installed on Saturday! I was able to accomplish the entire transaction by phone, and enjoyed my phone conversation with Matt to boot. (It is possible to be both efficient and exhibit a sense of humor. Matt does both.)
Events transpired that caused me to have to postpone my (very timely) delivery several times - never a problem, nothing but pleasant folk and cooperation from Spencer's. I was finally able to schedule it for this morning. They called (as promised) at 8:30 a.m. to say that the truck would be here between 11-1 p.m. (none of this "sometime between 8 and 5" stuff). They arrived at 10:30 a.m.
For 20 years I believed I had a gas dryer. That's why I special-ordered one! (Instead of the $250 extra that Lowe's quoted me, there was to be a very minimal charge for a new gas connection from Spencer's). Imagine the surprise to both the 2 delightful, clean-cut young men who arrived with my new dryer and myself when they pulled the old dryer away from the wall - and it was ELECTRIC! I was speechless! Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed and one of the young men noticed that there was ALSO a gas hookup already in place. Crisis averted. He zipped out to the truck, got an adapter, and 20 minutes later my new gas dryer is spinning away! (They also reversed the door on the dryer without my even asking, so that it would be more convenient for me.)
They couldn't have been nicer to a (temporarily) ditzy senior citizen - and I expect my electric bill will be diminished considerably this summer...
I grew up in the retail sales business, and I try to do business locally if at all possible. I've never had a less than pleasant, satisfactory experience with Spencer's, and once again they've earned my repeat business. Good, personalized customer service is priceless in my estimation - and Matt also gave me a fair and competitive price on my new dryer. Kudos all around, and thank you all so very much!
