| - Came here Saturday November 11, 2017. Let me start by saying that this was a shocking experience and this is a long review
WHAT HAPPENED:
My husband & I took our Vietnam Veteran uncle out to dinner to celebrate Veterans Day. We came in at 7:00pm, and ordered food and drinks, at around 7:15 their 2 beers came to the table but my wine showed up at 7:30.Our sever was working hard and running all over. When she came to our table with my wine she apologized and said "sorry we are just really busy." They had 9 tables at this time and there were 2 servers on a Saturday night. By the time we left there were 11 tables (including ours).
WE ORDERED:
- Canadian Poutine (appetizer)
- pierogi dinner w/ salad & sides
- Swedish meatballs w/ salad & sides
- pork schnitzel w/ salad & sides
- wine & beers
The awful poutine came out 15 min after I got my warm white wine. It was burnt fries swimming in salty gravy & melted cheese. We ate it b/c we were hungry. After 45 min from when we ordered,our food still didn't come out, yet 2 other tables that sat after us got food, Weird.
The first time we asked about our food the server said we were next up. But then we watched 2 other tables get their meals.
When we'd had enough we tried to get our waitress's attention but she wouldn't come over. Instead we had to ask the waiter to please get us our check for what we had so we could go. My uncle needed to eat & take his meds and nothing was offered during our wait.We needed to go get his food and our server was kind of avoiding us. Most likely because the food was taking really long.
All of a sudden the owner, angry elderly woman, comes storming to the table from the other direction & slams the check on the table yelling at us "pay your bill, get out, and never come back again!" NO LIE, can't make this up. She starts yelling at us & my uncle tried to explain that we've been waiting 45 min and he needs to eat and the server came over and said it's only been 35 min b/c she didn't put the order in till we got our appetizer. But the appetizer took 15min, so that's 45-50min. My uncle didn't eat any of the poutine because he had no idea the food would take so long and he was saving his appetite for the dinner.
Then, the owner went to the guests next to our table and started talking crap about how we couldn't wait for our food. She was storming around the restaurant making a complete spectacle of herself by yelling and we were just standing there to pay for our bill so we could leave. It also triggered an anxiety attack w/ my uncle & he had to go sit in the car while we tried to pay the bill, we asked to pay it 5x.
I finally spoke up after watching her parade her anger out in the open to try to calm her down saying "please stop yelling as no one else is yelling & we just want to pay our bill" in a de-escalating tone. She then yelled at us "you come from McDonalds then go back to McDonalds." I'm not even sure what that means? Because we were done waiting 45-50 min for food and my uncle needed to take his meds? She wanted us to get out so we finally just walked out and tended to our uncle.
WHAT COULD'VE BEEN DONE DIFFERENTLY:
- instead of storming over and slamming the check down she could've come over and offered to bring our salads out to eat before our meals, offered us bread, came over to talk to us
- clarify the situation: server said they were super busy and the owner was yelling at us that our wait time was normal.We were puzzled by what "we are super busy" meant for a Saturday night on a holiday weekend as we didn't have a wait time to get seated.
* we would've stayed had the right solution been provided by her. But instead she chose to go ignorant crazy on us.
PROS:
- they serve pierogis
- they have beer and wine
- our server was great
CONS:
- based on the poutine we had the food was ridiculously priced for what they were offering.
- expensive place to eat, rip off
- verbally abusive, disrespectful, and inappropriate behavior of owner in the establishment. I was so shocked that she was okay with treating other people like that.
- triggered an anxiety attack with my uncle due to staff behavior.
- operated unprofessionally
- whole design/decor is outdated and doesn't match the menu prices. Only cloth was our napkins. A booth outside had 1/2 the fabric ripping off.
- one server had a tight white shirt on and his black pants were super tight. During the time we were there we saw him adjust his underwear in the restaurant because his pants kept falling down, they were too tight for his figure and he had no belt. He looked a mess
* Not only will I never go back but I will not recommend this place to anyone.
