  • I will leave a summary of my experience with Adelbert "Bert" Wadsworth at the Gold Ring office of Urology Specialists of Nevada. I went in after a year of ongoing issues and seeing my regular doctor for treatment. Because it was so persistent, my regular doctor suggested I go in for tests and an ultrasound as antibiotics were not having any long-term results. I went in and the staff was cordial but busy, regular doctor's office. Again, I had seen my regular DOCTOR for a year and when someone visited me, it was Bert who is a Physician's Assistant. I let him know the background of why I was coming in and he mentioned they would have to do some tests and I let him know I believed I was also supposed to get an ultrasound, he said we would follow their policies and he didn't care what my GP wanted done. This was where I had to ask him to not shout as I could hear him quite well. He let me know he was sick and had his ears blocked (this was an aggressive shouting, but I accepted his explanation, whatever to get him to stop). I think my reminder of an ultrasound made him see something important on the referral because he then said he would schedule me for an ultrasound. He then also read off a computer that these types of things could be caused by "coffee, tea, soda, spicy foods." I then asked him if I would see the doctor the next time I came in and he said no, I would see another PA. I let him know I had seen a DOCTOR about this for a year and respectfully that the reason I came to the specialists office was to see a DOCTOR who SPECIALIZES in urology. He then began shouting, literally shouting at me, called me several names. This is where it clicked in my head "you are not obliged to stay here" as it was getting rather scary. I grabbed my bag and bolted out of the room and let the nurses know that I would not be going back into a room with him that he was both inappropriate and unprofessional. He came out of the office and had a few more choice words for me and I said I could not believe he behaves like this at work. Finally, the office manager came and spoke with me, she mentioned he was sick and that he was probably grumpy because of that. I let her know that there is a difference between grumpy and calling a patient names. People are sick all the time but behave themselves at work, his behaviour would not even fit in at a bar or on the street. Ultimately, she was listened and helped me continue my visit with someone else but it is unimaginable that someone like Adelbert Wadsworth should be working anywhere, much less a doctors office.
