  • We made a reservation for Valentine's Day at 6:30 p.m. online through Yelp Seat Me. We made the reservation on February 5. We received an e-mail confirmation. Several days later, we received a call from the restaurant, to confirm our reservation. They said they were going to seat us at a high top table in the bar, and asked if that was OK. We said we didn't like that seating. They then asked if we wanted a table or a booth. We said we would take the booth, and they said OK, see you on the 14th. We arrived about 6:10 p.m. I went to the hostess stand to check in. They searched and searched for our name, but couldn't find it. The one hostess talked to another, and they said someone with a last name similar to ours had a reservation at 6:30 also, but had called and switched it to another day. But that was not me!. I had my e-mail confirmation with me, but they didn't even want to look at it. The hostess asked us to follow her, and she brought us toward a table. I said we had reserved a booth on the phone, and she said "I didn't take your reservation, so I don't know what they told you" but she didn't have a booth. There were several tables open in the dining area. She showed us to a table right at the front and on the aisle. My wife asked if we could have the table next to it which wasn't right on the aisle. She said no, that is reserved. I said "I have a reservation too!" She said sorry. So we took the table by the aisle. Less than 5 minutes later, another host came through with a couple, and they looked at the several open tables, and were asked which one they would like, and they finally said they would take the table that we had requested earlier. They didn't have that specific table reserved--but got it anyway. Unbelieveable! Lousy start to the evening. During the evening, we couldn't help but notice that the people at the tables around us were waiting extremely long for their entrees. In fact, the waitresses were apologizing for the long waits. We had long waits for our wine, and our appetizer. I can't blame the wait staff--they seemed to be working very hard, but it must have been the kitchen. Anyway, the service and the reservation treatment almost made me forget that the food wasn't bad either. The shrimp scampi crostinos appetizer was great!. The veal piccatta was average. And the desserts were very good--the chocolate gelato and the cannolis. My wife's peach martini was the best she's had. Too bad the service and the reservation snafu chilled the entire evening, and results in the two star rating. They need to clean up their act if they expect return visits.
