| - This museum really surprised me. I went here when my parents came to town, and we killed 3 hours here without even making it to all the floors. This will probably get me shunned from Pittsburgh Yelp, but I'm not a Steelers fan, so I was a bit skeptical of the allure of the sports museum. Not rightly so--the museum covered a lot of ground, and while there was a room that was a shrine to the Steelers franchise, there was a lot of focus on the sports brought to Pittsburgh by its immigrants, past Olympians (apparently we had some great swimmers!), and the steel mill baseball leagues. Also, Pittsburgh started the practice of batting helmets with--get this--miners' helmets.
Other cool displays included the history of the American flag, innovators of Western PA, and general American history.
