  • When I joined Gainey Village I was given a variety of complementary services to try out, including a massage at The Spa. Now, I am not a big fan of massages and have only received two prior to this adventure - I have a hard time relaxing and feel like I'm wasting time (weird, I know). Anyway, being a grad student and constantly being on my laptop has not given me the best posture over the years and I was starting to feel the affects (mainly upper back) so I decided to cash in on this massage. When I called to schedule an appointment I was greeted by a very friendly and helpful man who helped me decide what kind of massage to get, as I told him of my previous experiences, and he put me with Geo whom is the lead massage therapist and trainers. Upon arrival to Gainey Village, I was given a quick tour of the Spa side of things (totally separate area and locker rooms than the gym side) and a key to a locker that had the super soft luxury robe and slippers to don. I immediately transitioned into this state of tranquility with the soft music and the organic décor. I can't believe how serene and intimate this area is, it's like it's a completely different building than the health club area I am used to experiencing. So like I said, the Spa has completely separate amenities than the gym area including complimentary coffee, tea, water, pool, relaxation lounge and nooks, lockers, showers, and whirlpool (and of course the treatment rooms and salon). It's amazing; you can stay in your Zen state while still getting to use all these amenities. Anyway, I didn't have to wait in the relaxation area long before Geo came to get me. Again, I let her know that I am still a newbie when it comes to massages and of course that my upper back was killing me thanks to sitting hunched over in front of a computer all day. The treatment room smelled wonderful with the aromatherapy scent and was dimly lit to keep you relaxed. I hopped up onto the table and Geo was AMAZING! This was my first massage I ever enjoyed and I think it is all because of her! She was checking in with me to make sure the pressure was just right for me and really hitting the areas that I needed. Ah,I felt like a million bucks afterwards and I can now say that I want another massage, from Geo of course, and at the Spa at Gainey Village. What a great experience all-around. Oh and I love that you get a discount on Spa services as a member of Gainey Village and if you are not a member, booking your services here will give you access to gym and classes. They are the best!
