  • Overall we had a fine time here for a relaxing memorial long weekend. We stayed in the Castilla villas which is a bit further from the main lobby. Great if you want to be away from the crowds of the resort! However far if you want to reach the main activities. Activities- lots of activities including multiple pools for all different tastes...kids pools, adult, quiet pools, spa pool; fishing with fishing pools available, golf course Restaurants- we found the restaurants to all be mediocre especially for the price. The breakfast buffet is not international and very limited. The ironwood for lunch had some healthy options but we were disappointed by the value. Shopping- this is limited...I would suggest more modern options here Spa- the spa was nice but I was small for how many people there are! We did a day here and the gym was clean but the equipment was mediocre. The fitness classes were also fell flat for a boutique gym. The amenities were just ok, I thought he pols had better amenities than the spa in terms of perks like coconut water, eucalyptus towel, etc. the main areas of the spa got very crowded. Pros The pools are great..there is an ambience for everyone The pool service is top notch...with extras such as sunblock, eucalyptus towels, aloe Vera, chilled water with flavors, coconut water, eye glass cleaning etc that were passed out as you are laying by the pool The floaters in the adult pool are nice The service is responsive in the rooms We reserved a casita suite and enjoyed the size but sitting area is awkward with mundane furniture. I have higher expectation from a five star hotel The shower head pressure is also low and could be upgraded The fishing area and amenities were nice Overall the grounds are well groomed with grass! Cons The service was not on par with fairmont quality. From the moment we entered the lobby, the valet service was not friendly or knowledgeable. When we checked in, the staff did not give us any instructions on the layout and amenities and events of the resort which is important since this place is large! The turndown service is too late..they came around 8:10pm which I consider late The rooms are dated with peeling wallpaper The spa is nice but be prepared because there are so many people for the size that the hotel admits
