  • I love food and I love festivals, so when I found out about Food Truck Festival Ontario, I was for sure going, it would be my first Toronto food related festival afterall! Online ticket prices vs at the door ticket weren't all that much difference, at the door you pay $15, and online with their set price at $10, plus tax, plus service fees, it came to almost $13. It was a huge space and I'm pretty sure people spent most of their time queuing anyway. Some queues went quicker than others, but they were all very long, I reckon it would be due to some of the inexperienced trucks, unfamiliar with working at festivals and therefore have no good system going. Some trucks sold out of items before 3pm (for an event 1pm-8pm), the gelato truck had three flavours left by the time I was leaving at 5pm. The space could have easily accommodated at least five more trucks. I only went to three trucks because I didn't have time to stand in all the queues. The trucks I did get to try weren't that bad, but it wasn't anything spectacular. Fish tacos from The Food Dudes, deep fried cheesecake from Luchador Taquero (who only had two people working the truck), gelato from Dolcella Gelato. There were not enough seating in the main area, did you expect everyone to eat standing? There was a lack of rubbish bins, it was really fun trying to put my rubbish in the bin without tipping the overly filled rubbish over, maybe there should more rubbish bins and it should be changed every 10-15 minutes. What made standing in the queue more annoying than actually waiting? People rudely cutting through, there should be spaces marked for queue crossing, so people weren't just pushing themselves through people queuing up. Also, the most important question: What if it had rained? Thanks for having a drink station, selling drinks for $3 each, really? Their advertising said average food price was $7, it was not. Mostly everything were between $10-12. I had tweeted how excited I was about attending and I've tried on numerous occasions to interact with FTFO on social media asking simple questions, like if we can bring drinks in, or if there's cash points on site, or if there were only limited number of door tickets, but the only thing they were concerned with was showing me a photo of Beavertails, so I guess I could have taken that as a hint it was going to be bad. Honestly, this was the worst food festival I've ever been to, very unorganised, I'm utterly disappointed and it was a waste of $13. I would have felt the same if I had got the $5 WagJag deal and I'd probably have to have a real think about it even if it was free.
