Recently I had a chance to "dine" in a lobby bar at Westin Harbour Castle. It so happened that I got stuck in the hotel and as you might know the hotel is stuck in the middle of nowhere, so I basically had no choice but to try the food in this establishment. The menu sounded great, my choices: caprese salad, crispy calamari with arugula salad, tomato soup. My suspicions began when to a question about local brews mentioned on the drink menu the waitress began naming Budweiser, Corona and Stella. I tried arguing the point of international origin of these beers but was reassured once more that they certainly are brewed in Toronto. So I chose to have some local Stella (sarcasm intended). Next came the caprese salad which basically was tomato slices sprinkled with olive oil, my hair turned grey but there was no escaping this place. Next came the soggy "crispy calamari" freshly thawed from their previous frozen state by dipping in not so hot frying oil plus imaginary arugula. And to finalize the stroke experienced by my body during previous two dishes Campbells tomato soup arrived to the table or was it just diluted ketchup, don't know I am not an expert on commercial varieties.
If you are as unlucky and end up staying in this hotel, do yourself a favor, rent a cab and get to the city.
