I recently spent a complimentary night at this hotel, complete with a dinner at the in-house Garcia's restaurant and a breakfast spread in the morning.
Garcia's was great, loved the food, happy with the service. I loved that they brought chips, AND salsa, AND bean dip.
The room itself was fine but nothing to write home about. Clean but definitely very old, with lots of water damage on the ceiling.
The free breakfast in the morning was TERRIBLE. Words can not describe how bad this breakfast was...and I've stayed in a hostel that offered nothing but a loaf of bread and a toaster in the morning! Everything was completely inedible: potatoes were dreadfully cooked and so yucky I thought they might be fake somehow...imposter potatoes? Stale bagels, bacon that did not resemble any meat product I have ever seen before, coffee so awful it was undrinkable....you get the gist.
The worst was when I finally gave up and decided on a bowl of frosted flakes...only to the find the cereal dispenser was filled with plain cornflakes, then topped off with frosted flakes. At this point I didn't care. I took off the top and scooped up a bowl like a shovel.
Why bother putting on this whole spread if everything is terrible? Just some decent coffee and pastries that aren't stale would suffice. I know it's free and all, but to send guests off on their way on such a bad note is not helping matters.
