  • RUDE MANAGER - First let me state I normally love dollar tree and the employees I have encountered at this location however tonight I was incredibly put off by the manager who was on duty "Tiffany" We did our shopping then needed some balloons for a birthday. Usually they have some pre-inflated however tonight this was not the case. And we would need to have some blown up. This in itself is a non issue I have no problem choosing what I want and waiting. There was a very pleasant young man named Daniel who was working the register and had a few customers he was checking out. When he got a break between people we asked for some assistance with some balloons. It was at this time he let us know it was his first day and he hadn't been trained on balloons yet and would need to wait for his manager. Since he was alone in the store again had customers coming to check out and I have gotten balloons here a million times I decided to just pull the ones I wanted and wait for the manager to help with the inflating. We waited over 10 minutes, and between check outs he apologized to us and said he wasn't sure where his manager had gone. She finally came back smelling like an ashtray and asked "you need balloons?" I replied "yes" and she turned to him and asked rather sharply "you can't blow up balloons?" I was immediately put off and I said to her "he said it is his first day and he hadn't been trained on that yet" I felt bad for this young man who on his first day was left alone to handle check outs answer questions and then was talked down to because he didn't want to do something wrong on a task he not yet been trained on. Not a very pleasant way for someone to be taught and I'm sure doesn't make him feel good when he was probably already nervous. He was very professional and kind and I think Tiffany needs a lesson in kindness and how to train people WITHOUT speaking DOWN to them. I will be calling tomorrow to speak with another manager or see if I can speak with hers. Tiffany should not be training and leaving someone ALONE in the store for that period of time while she is out smoking on their first day! **update** I called in and spoke with the store manager today who apologized and stated the store was understaffed last night and they were much busier than expected. She stated they called more help in and apologized to me and said she will apologize to the other employee who was snapped at. Again I always have a great experience at this location so I will chalk this up to an off night and hope to go back to seeing only positive employees there - VW
