rev:text	Just adopted a second pup from Halo a few weeks ago...a golden ret/shepherd mix. We looked at several dogs the day we went and Halo reps did a good job showing us how to introduce our pup to potential dogs. The process does take a while from the time you walk around and choose the dogs you'd like to visit with individually to final paperwork so give yourself adequate time...like 2-3 hours. **Oh, and write the Kennel number down on the slip... not the number on the dogs intro sheet attached to the Kennel as Halo moves dogs around and intro sheets don't get updated. Also write down the dogs name (and breed) as sometimes there are several dogs in each Kennel. As a few people have mentioned, Halo asks potential adoptees to fill out a quick form...I have no objection ... it's very general info. The staff was great all around. Very patient. I adopted another pup from Halo earlier this year...there was another dog I considered the same day who hadn't been spayed so I asked Halo to call me when she was available (I wanted 2 dogs). Halo called me 2 times to follow up and see if I still wanted the pup but I felt I had enough on my plate with the 2 month old puppy I adopted. Another reviewer wasn't happy with follow-through so thought I'd mention my experience. Adoption fee was on the high side ($355 this adoption, $255 last adoption) ... the dogs I adopted came from the MCACC side. The fee does cover spay, neuter/chip/dog license/vaccinations. Both dogs were puppies. First adoption...pup was only a few months old and so had to pay for 2 additional sets of vaccinations...Petco has a great program/good $...so factor this into the adoption cost. Both pups are happy, healthy and well adjusted. Here are a few additional important tips: Have your pup thoroughly checked for tics before leaving the facility...then you won't have to deal with an infestation at your home. Also ck your dog at their new home for the next week or so and give a tic bath as soon as possible (after spay/neuter). Common tic sites are along the collar/ears/cheeks/between toes, etc. **Have the pup ckd for kennel cough before leaving...if the dog has been at the shelter for several days (even with vaccination given) chances are high they might have developed the cough. A simple antibiotic from the shelter will take care of...but must be done before the pup leaves the shelter. Shelter does not cover anything once you leave. All in all, I had a good experience and appreciate the service Halo provides. I adopted from AZ Humane Society about 17 years ago and appreciate how organized Halo is. They also send you home with a leash and bag of food. Nice:)
